WWII Bomb found on a river bank

A couple in Newark, Nottinghamshire discovered a suspected World War II bomb while clearing waterways on Bob's Island near the River Trent. Initially mistaken for a bag, the item was quickly reported to police, prompting the arrival of bomb disposal experts who confirmed it was unexploded ordnance. The device was safely destroyed in a controlled explosion the following morning, with temporary police cordons set up around the area.
