Two German Second World War bombs were found on the same afternoon, one in Exmouth Marina and another at a Plymouth building site, prompting large evacuation zones. Thousands of residents were temporarily displaced while the devices were examined, transported out to sea, and destroyed in controlled detonations. Experts said the main challenge was identifying the fuses and safely handling the bombs due to their condition and the positions in which they were discovered.
