Technical Director
As the Technical Director, Chas joins RMS UXO with a wealth of global experience, having a proven track record and reputation in conducting commercial and humanitarian demining and Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) operations in both land and marine environments. Throughout his career, Chas has overseen some of the most high profile international UXO survey and clearance operations carried out over the last 25 years.
Starting his career in 1989, he joined the British Army as a Combat Engineer, specialising in land mine clearance and explosive demolitions related operations. Chas later joined 33 Engineer Regiment (Bomb Disposal) and undertook conventional and chemical clearance operations along with Improvised Explosive Device Disposal, Counter Terrorist High-Risk Search and Special Projects. As well as serving in Germany and the UK, he served in the First Gulf War, Falkland Islands, and Bosnia.
Upon leaving the Army, Chas joined one of the most prolific commercial land mine and UXO clearance companies in the late ‘90’s. After beginning as an international EOD Operator and project manager, over the next 20 years Chas progressed into senior management roles, eventually overseeing UK and International Land and Marine Operations. Throughout this time, he was involved in developing the company within an emerging global UXO market, and this work directly influenced what is now recognised as industry standards and best practice.
From 2021, Chas has worked as a consultant and a director for a number of commercial UXO organisations which has allowed him to gain a broader understanding of the overall project delivery models used and of the current standards being applied across the UXO industry.
He now looks to bring his strengths to RMS UXO and help shape its future as an innovative market leader in UXO Risk Management.
