Senior Technical UXO Advisor
Brian Todd Joins RMS UXO as one of the most recognisable and respected members of the global Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) community. With a wealth of technical, operational, and management experience, Brian was at the forefront of developing the world-wide commercial UXO market in the late 1990’s and has been instrumental in advancing all aspects of project delivery in both land and marine based operations.
Brian joined the British Army Corps of Royal engineers in 1970 and trained as an EOD operator and Combat Engineer. During his career, he specialised in all aspects of EOD, Improvised Explosive Device Disposal and High-Search techniques, and was employed as an advanced EOD / IED operator and High-Risk search commander.
In 1990 he was appointed a Senior Chemical Warfare Instructor at the UK MOD Defence EOD School and was responsible for the training of NATO, UK and Commonwealth Army, Navy and Air Force personnel. During this period, Brian also spent time in the United States, qualifying as a Technical Escort (Chemical Warfare Agents) and as an explosive Ordnance Disposal Operator with the US Army.
After leaving the British Army in 1994, Brian joined BACTEC International Ltd, a leader in the then evolving commercial UXO sector, and was responsible throughout his time for planning, operational delivery, safety, and quality. For more than 20 years, Brian operated in all theatres of operation ranging from the UK domestic UXO market through to EOD, Area Clearance and Demining operations in the Middle East, South-East Asia and mainland Europe.
More recently, Brian has been actively involved in Consultancy projects, providing technical advice to commercial International UXO companies and manufacturers on all aspects of EOD and chemical warfare matters. During this period, he was invited by the European Union (EU) (EU Delegation to Moldova) as an observer for reactions and responses to toxic Chemical incidents during EU MOLDEX. And, also to participate in the EU’s Dbox programme (demining toolbox).
